Happy dancing in the #pottery studio. Kiln made it to temp and I can tell because my #Bartlettcontroller reads CPLT (complete) and tells me it took 15.47 hours. Sounds about right. Eachbkiln load takes a different amount of time even though I am aiming for the same temperature. In part, It depends on how full or tightly or loosely the kiln is loaded. It’s also telling me the current temperature inside is in the 900,s F and still way to hot to open it up. This is the hard part folks. I have some new glaze combos in there and I’m like a kid in Xmas eve waiting for the morning to get here already. #corisandlerpottery

Just sitting around with friends and all these various mugs are on the table. Thought I'd just take a snap #corisandlerpottery Making mugs is a real treat for me. I love the mug. I love what it represents I love the experiences we have with our favourite mug and I love the process of choosing a mug for your specific moment in your day. What goes into a choice? Is it colour, feel, weight, size, memory of past moments with that mug and perhaps a friend you last shared a cafe/tea moment with. Donyou love to touch it and caress it. Do younlikenyourbhandbtobslide over a slick shiny surface or do you like your hand to stumble and rub up against texture and relief. Is it the handle that draws you in. So much here. #mug #coffelife #teacup #myfavouritemug

Glaze mixing mistake: always take a sample and make a test tile before fixing the mistake. This was a glaze that was usually quite a chalky matte bluebglaze with bits of sugar like crystals. Added too much gerstley borate and decided to draw a test tile before fixing it. I'm in love with this new glaze. The feel is butter smooth and has both satin and shine as you can see – the chemistry also changed the blue to this green mint – holy crow. That's cool! #corisandlerpottery #glazerecipes #glazechemistry #pottery

Ocean is the new black

These mugs are fresh out of the kiln. They’re about 4″ tall and the opening at the lip is about 3 inches. They really do feel like you’re at the ocean drinking in the warm balmy breezy air.
