The rush of the water The crash of the waves The blue green so deep In oceanic caves I am taken to the water I am taken to the edge Where the sea meets the shore Is the mermaids great ledge. I see kelp floating on her Only dream what’s below For I dwell on land The sea I don’t know -… This series is about the Winter Sea. I am drawn to her beauty and her power. Some days she is brilliant turquoise however, in the dark of winter, she too is mysterious, with so much movement and churning. Winter storms try to disrupt the surface tension of her skin. Underneath, is calm, is quiet. These pots reference those two realities. Of floating kelp and winter waves above. But, turn the pot over and feel the rippling sandy ocean floor. They take me in and speak softly. These can be wall-hung as “clay paintings” from their recessed foot ring on a nail or by wire. This piece is more bowl shape than this appears. The JELLEN mug. This one is a sweet smaller mug than many of my Lowther mugs you've seen recently. I love smaller mugs just as much as larger for different reasons. Intimacy for one. I call this series JELLEN because I recently visited friends who's first names can be morphed together to create the word JELLEN. I drank from an older Mug of mine they had and I absolutely loved it. I know it sounds odd , but it really took my breath away and I started making more like that one that night. Late night in the studio. Thought I'd show some periscope friends how I secure a throwing bat with no clay cookie or bat pins and ended up making one of my favourite shapes. Wide flanged platters/bowls. The perfect thing to have at your table when friends and family are gathered round. There is something about the centrifugal force of working with wide shapes using a substantive amount of clay. If you don't respect physics, the clay will just spin out of control and adorn your studio walls. #platter #pottery #corisandlerpottery

A blank canvas allows for #sliptrailing. I do this at firm leatherhard but seem to be able to get away with it even close to bone dry. This particular series if Cinderella coach mugs seems a great place to allow the #Fibonacci spirals to come alive. The raised texture of the spiralled slip means that many glazes Ibuse break over this texture to create a variation in the glas , usually making the glaze lighter over the raised slip or… when glazes are sprayed, I can achieve some really nice shadowing or halo like effects. #muglife this is parting my Cinderella coach mug series. This has soft satin matte turquoise glaze on the outside and a new glaze I am calling starry night on the inside. Flanged platter/bowl #wall-hanging. #clay-painting I love making this shape on the #potterswheel. I start off with a bowl shape and then flatten the edges with a straight edge with the intention of Levine chatter marks. These marks set the stage for the ocean resemblance. The chatters remind me of the beach as the tide recedes back into Itself and the #sliptrailing reminds me a bit of bull kelp which is found here on the west coast. The spirals reflect the tidal pools and rip tides that amaze me. @marilyn_simmar … don't worry, this is yours. Breakfast for dinner. So many wonderful fresh veggies from our garden are ready tonight right off the vine. So… I made a fresh zucchini and Asiago creamed tart with garlic scape pesto on puffed pastry with a soft poached egg. Fresh little tomatoes and some mint on the tart and the thinnest slickest if zucchini (or was it summer squash). Well, it's green and delicious. Fresh snap peas and green beans and weeny weeny teensy tiny carrots that needed to get thinned out so others can grow larger. Top it off with fresh leaf lettuce,some fennel greens and some more mint, add some more diced Zuchinni and OMG. WHAT A BOUNTY. gratitude for my veggie garden. Going to make this meal for our guests tomorrow morning for breakfast
